To my one and only wife,
We were at the dance floor this day forty-five years ago, remember? Donnie with Ana, Joseph with Joan. And me, with you in that white dress. I remember giving you the pink corsage, telling you that I worried it didn't match the color of your dress. You smiled, still thanking me. Pink was your favorite color. This fact I knew. That was the day you and I became us. I thank you and look back at the memory with a smile on my face. You knew how to make things special, to make me feel special.
I love you, Lydia. I will be with you soon.
Allan"
This letter was found amongst my grandfather's things when we went through his drawers hours after he was declared dead. It was almost as if he knew he would be gone soon, based on the time he had written. He had died that night at almost 10 in the evening, his breathing slowing down. He went peacefully to his creator, and looked as if he sleeping.
